About Me

Hi, I’m Lila. I read, write, cook, sew, crochet, do photography, make up languages, and play roleplaying games.

I’ve lived all up and down the East coast, and I’ve been in Gainesville, Florida, since 2002. I graduated from the University of Florida in 2007 with a BA in Linguistics. My interests were mostly morphology and cultural linguistics. My honors thesis was a grammar for Tenata, a conlang, or constructed language. I presented this language at the Second Language Creation Conference, held in Berkeley in July 2007.

In 2010 I graduated from Florida State University’s Library and Information Studies program with a Master’s degree. I’m currently looking for work in an academic library. My career goals include going back to school for a PhD in Linguistics or Religion and then becoming a specialist librarian in my field.

Extracurricularly (that is an unwieldy adverb), I enjoy cooking and sometimes and blog about it at Nom Nom Cucumber. I’m challenging myself to learn more about the science of cooking, and acquire skills that help me create new recipes that work. My cooking blog is also the recipient of most of my photography these days.

I read a lot of science fiction, some fantasy, the occasional romance novel, and I’m making an effort to read more classics. I have several novels banging about in my head but I haven’t written any of them yet. I’m under no illusions that writing a book is easy, but I don’t doubt that I will manage it eventually.

I’m a geek. I love to create things. And to conclude, here is picture of Babo and a cup of tea (Earl Grey, hot).
